Woodford Reserve Rye

Of the handful of Kentucky bourbon distilleries, Woodford Reserve is one of the oldest. A distiller named Elijah Pepper began producing small amounts of whiskey in 1797 in his little set-up, just behind the Woodford County Courthouse in Versailles, Kentucky. Woodford Reserve is one of the few remaining small-batch bourbon producers in Kentucky. Distillery uses a pot still and column still to produce its bourbon. Woodford Reserve's bourbon is aged in new charred oak barrels for at least six years.

Woodford Reserve Rye uses a pre-prohibition style ratio of 53% rye in its mash bill to pay homage to history’s original rye whiskeys, making spice and tobacco the dominant note among a sea of fruit, floral, and sweet aromatics, which yields a nice sweetness and overall balance. Rye whiskey can deliver complex flavors – neat, on ice, or in a cocktail.
