Estate Argyros is a wine producer located on the island of Santorini in Greece. The vineyards are planted on volcanic soils and cover 26 hectares (65 acres) of land on the island. Native grape varieties are planted there, making wines in a range of styles, from dry whites to sweet vinsanto. The estate was originally founded in 1903 by Georgios Argyros, who started making local wines using traditional Santorinian methods. Argyros' vineyards are situated at altitudes ranging from 35-150m (115-500ft) above sea level, on the classic, dark volcanic soils of the island. The vines are cultivated in the traditional basket style which shelters the grapes from Santorini's strong winds.
The first ever, and to this day the only Greek wine to score a perfect 100 points. This wine is naturally sweet wine, made by white grapes that are sundried for approximately 2 weeks and aged in barrel for 20 years after fermentation. This Vinsanto is a blend of 80% Assyrtiko, 10% Aidani and 10% Athiri.
Deep amber color, with flavors of butterscotch, roasted coffee beans, raisins and cocoa. Full body and extremely concentrated, whilst always maintaining it’s balance between sweetness and acidity with an aftertaste that lasts and lasts.
